Wedding Photographs
1 December

A few pleasant things this week before the main business which was a trip up to Merseyside to see the parents along with Linda and Ian.

Firstly, a meeting with a fwah, drop-dead gorgeous student by the name of Abd El Kader Jazairy. Almost enough to make me forget my maiden's blush. Almost but not quite. *Smiles*

Secondly, a trip to see Eisenstein's Alexander Nevsky with a live orchestral accompaniment by the London Philharmonic Orchestra of Prokofiev's score. The opening sequences of peacetime are boring beyond belief but, as soon as the Teutonic knights (symbolic Nazis to a man) invade, the film is a masterpiece and the battle on the ice is thrilling beyond belief. The only sadness of the evening was the empty seat next to me where Ross should have been.

Still, Roland was there which was good. We talked for hours on our return to Walthamstow. Result. I was very tired in work the next day. *Smiles*

Thirdly, it's pleasing to note that Hetty Wainthropp Investigates is back on our screens for a third series. I've already noted its gentleness. Nothing absolutely remarkable ever happens but just enough nastiness to illuminate the human condition occurs. And Dominic Monaghan who plays Hetty's young helper Geoffrey Shawcross is growing up into a nice young man. We still need more taught buttock shots but the BBC seems determined to spare us. *Raspberry*

Come the weekend, it was up to Merseyside and a very pleasant time with the old folks. The majority of our time was taken with viewing the wedding photographs and the photographs of Linda and Ian's honeymoon in the game parks of South Africa. We also sorted out what is going to happen over Christmas and it looks as though I shall be travelling up to Merseyside so long as Cyril can come with me.
