Pre-Raphaelites: Beauty and Rebellion This major exhibition of more than 120 paintings highlights Liverpool’s significant role in the Pre-Raphaelite movement, reinforcing the city’s position as the Victorian art capital of the north. Through renowned works by Pre-Raphaelite masters including Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Ford Madox Brown, William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais, the exhibition explores the significance of the Liverpool Academy and the city’s Autumn Exhibitions, which enabled the movement to flourish.  The exhibition examines the relationship between artists like Ford Madox Brown and Dante Gabriel Rossetti with their Liverpool contemporaries, collectors and the institutions that welcomed them.
