A Right Shower
7 October

I am very proud of myself.

For a variety of long-standing reasons, I do not consider myself to be a practical person.

However, in the last couple of weeks, I have made vast improvements to the bathroom in my house. The room that I have always been most antsy about is the bathroom. Basically, it is very small and is laid out all wrong and had a bath but no shower.

Moving into the bathroom A fortnight later

As you can see, bare boards and minimal fixtures.

Well, now there's all manner of good things. As well as the pine fittings and the glass-doored cupboard which have gone in during the past year, there's now a mirror over the sink, a white tiled floor and a wall-mounted shower fitting with shower curtain that matches the decor. And I've put it all in myself. I am a proud and clever boy.

And for the sake of about a hundred quid's worth of raw materials, I've probably saved about £3,000 by not having the room completely re-fitted by professionals.

And it is just so lovely having a warm refreshing shower first thing in the morning.
